Residential Program
The Arc Southern Maryland provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with safe and supportive housing services, operating more than thirty homes in neighborhoods throughout Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties.
We believe that all individuals, regardless of their abilities, can live and participate as members of their communities. Programs are developed based on the belief that all individuals can grow, develop, and thrive. The Arc’s Residential Program is committed to honoring people’s choices regarding housemates, staff, neighborhood, daily routines, and activities. Supports and services are created to be seamless for an individual from early adulthood through retirement and beyond and are conducive to maximum growth and independence of each person. Individuals are the center of the planning process and services emphasize the use of community resources.
Residential supports can include: transportation, personal care, assistance with medical appointments, shopping, meal planning and preparation, banking and budget assistance, nursing and psychological supports, home maintenance, skill development, facilitation of community connections and other supports as determined in the Individual Plan (IP). Supports are provided on a 24 hour basis in both group home and alternative living unit models.
