Celebration of Life - Doris Mason

  02742 Doris Mason.jpg

It is with great sadness that we deliver the heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Doris Mason.  Doris passed away on the afternoon of September 15, 2016 at the age 59.

Doris has been a member of The Arc family since the 1980s, most recently as a residential manager.  To say Doris was a committed employee is an understatement.  Doris treated the people we support here at The Arc as though they were her family, even carrying their photos with her daily.  A great deal of warmth could be felt when she spoke of her work, with a sense of unparalleled passion for bringing joy to the lives of the consumers.  She once said that the work she did with the people she supported each day brought her a sense of fulfillment in her own life.  Her commitment was echoed in her motto, which was “we’re here for them.”

When it came to her work, Doris never left things undone and was consistently selfless.  When holidays came around, she was in the kitchen preparing meals – stuffed ham, turkey, dressing, and all the fixings – to serve to all the consumers she could gather together.  She always felt that they deserved the absolute best.

Doris has touched the lives of so many people that had the pleasure of working with her, as well as the consumers and their families.  Doris leaves behind her three children, many grandchildren of which she was so proud, siblings, and other family and friends.  This is truly a tremendous loss to The Arc family and our community as a whole.  Doris will be sincerely missed.
